Reflection on Lesson - 7/01/2011

During the print based media lesson we looked at the idea of packaging being misleading, the main identity problem was the concept of a type of food being low fat. This is a misconception as the product had high levels of sugar to make up the loss of taste, as the product has low fat on written on the packaging the audience belies that the product is healthier then the others in the store. During the lesson we when out to do some research in the supermarket, we got down information about the how the different products were placed on the shelves, this is due to the way the consumer views the products on the self. The eye level product pays more to be in that position due it being viewed more and statistically sells more products. We noted down how the different products were colours and the images which were included, this helps the understanding on how that type of colours helps represent the target audience and what the product stands for. This includes the company which sells them, this is due to some of the product company owning many different products such as nestle which include water, chocolate, cereal and many more.
