Magazine Ideas – Fashion/ Celeb

My magazine is going to follow in the same idea as magazine such as Vanity Fair as well as Elle and Teen Vogue. The target audience of the magazine would be women aged 16-28; this is due to the magazine helping create identity for the women as this is the age of people wanting to find their individual identity. This will include many different inspirational people which show strong independent women as this helps the target audience have belief in the message behind the magazine.

The Vanity Fair magazine is a Fashion/ Celebrity life style magazine; it is targeted towards higher class young women. This is due to the magazine being at a high price ranging from 4-5 pounds, this main image appeals to the rich younger women because this magazine embraces the connation of elegance mix with the height status of Hollywood. The theme of this magazine is following the phenomenon of the vampire craze, this is to publish the idea of the magazine expanding its audience to teenage due to one of the models being only 16.

 The image of the three girls conveys the idea that the women are connected, this is because the hands of the girls being close, this is due to the feeling of strength. The writing of the magazine cover follows on the theme of elegance due to the colours of red and black, this help connect to the image due to them linking in. The style of the text creates an image of the magazine going back to the 60s when women were perceived as elegant and strong, this is due to the feel of the text being artist and dramatised.

Elle magazine is also a fashion/celeb magazine, it is well known for targeting at catwalk fashion, and it is targeted and young women as it represents the sophistication that the women might not be able to have. This image represents a strong independent woman which connects to the target audience; this is due to the Carey Mulligan’s short haircut rebelling against traditional expectations of women.  This photo shoot helps sell the text which is on the front cover by selling the idea of ‘looking smart’ as the woman looks smart and respectable; this is helps sell the magazine so the target audience believes that they can copy the look for less.

The colours on the front colours reflect the stereotypical idea of the target audience of young women; this is because of the colours including pink, white and black. This conveys the image of classy with a touch of reality reflected in the pink, this helps the magazine due to the connation of the pink applying to the younger part of the audience showing them that they can relate to the magazine. The text image is clear and easy to read in the clear in the colour of black, this help attract more people to buy the magazine as it show people that Elle is not cluttered with unnecessary text. This encourages people to the read the articles and hopefully start buying the magazine more which increases sales.
