Naming the company after its founder Michael Dell, the company is one of the largest technological corporations in the world.
Dell has grown by both organic and inorganic, as of 2009, the company sold personal computers, servers, data storage devices, network switches and software. Dell also sells HDTVs, cameras, printers, MP3 players and other electronics built by other manufacturers. The company is well known for its innovations in supply chain management and electronic commerce.
December 9, 2008, Dell and EMC announced the multi-year extension, through 2013, of their partnership that began in 2001.Dell plans to expand its product line-up by adding the EMC Celerra NX4 storage system to the portfolio of Dell/EMC family of networked storage systems, as well as partnering on a new line of de-duplication products as part of its TierDisk family of data-storage devices.
